September 23, in the MHI Big Conference Hall a ceremonial meeting dedicated to the 90th anniversary of Marine Hydrophysical Institute was held.
The event was held as part of the opening of the All-Russian Scientific Conference “Seas of Russia: Fundamental and Applied Research”, which this year coincides with the 90th anniversary of the Institute.
The event was opened by Sergey K. Konovalov, the Director of Marine Hydrophysical Institute, Corresponding Member of the Russian Academy of Sciences. After welcoming remarks, reports on the current state, history and prospects of the institute were presented.
During the ceremonial meeting, the honored guests addressed the Institute with congratulations. Among them were academicians and corresponding members of the Russian Academy of Sciences, representatives of the Ministry of Science and Higher Education of the Russian Federation, representatives of Sevastopol government bodies and heads of research organizations.
For a significant contribution to the oceanology development, many years of activity and in connection with the 90th anniversary of the Institute, the Directorate and many employees of MHI were awarded with honorary diplomas and notes of acknowledgement.
Folk Ensemble of Violinists “Inspiration” presented its musical gift to Marine Hydrophysical Institute.
Also on the opening day of the Conference, a presentation of books written by MHI employees and veterans took place at the Big Conference Hall:

“History of Marine Hydrophysical Institute” (Sizov A., Bayankina T., Pryakhina S.F., & Pavlidi I.)
“Propagation of surface waves in ice conditions” (Bukatov A., Bukatov A., Zharkov V. & Zavyalov D.).
